A malicious man who covets the engineer's wife, Forough, deceives her in her husband's absence, making it seem like Forough is having an affair with him. Upon returning home and learning of this, the engineer casts his wife out and continues his life depressed, alone, and aimless. After a series of events, the truth is finally revealed, the malicious man gets his just deserts, and the family is reunited once more.
